Professional Examination Fees
Subscriptions to Professional Periodicals
Museum / Non-profit Organization Membership
Donations
Clothing / Vehicular / Transit Spendings (Not Reimbursed)
Moving Expenses <<
Cable/Internet/Gym <<

(Resident Alien)
http://rachtw.blogspot.com/2009/03/resident-alien.html
2. Home Office Deduction (你要在家裡規劃一區辦公, 然後你的收入要有從你在家辦公來的)
http://www.ahbbo.com/moneytable.html

Unless you own a real estate property, or have significant medical expenses or business expenses, most people would take the standard deduction.
Most common itemized deductions are:
1. real estate property, which includes mortgage interest payments and real estate taxes;
2. state and local taxes paid in prior year;
3. qualified medical expenses (there's a calculation for this. this can be found online);
4. charity donations;
5. business expenses (if you work from home, you can deduct a portion of expenses on rent, internet, phone, fax, and anything else that is work related. you can also deduct trasportation expenses if you have to visit clients, etc. however, costs for commuting to your home office are not tax deductable, that's a common misconception);
6. education expenses;
7. business publication subscriptions (i.e. WSJ, Business Week...you can deduct the costs even if you purchase from news stands);
8. tax preparation fees (including costs on tax accountants, Turbo Tax, e-file fees, etc);
9. casualty, disaster and theft losses.
If you choose the itemized method, make sure you keep receipts. Also keep in mind that all expenses deducted have to be legit, and make sure all the calculations are backed up by evidence. The last thing you want is to be audited by the IRS.
