英文成語-benefit of the doubt

想跟大家分享一個比較少會注意到的成語,不過很好用:

"benefit of the doubt"

意思是說在一件事還沒有定案以前都應該享有"清白"的權力,是無罪的.
舉例來說:一對情侶吵架,女生"覺得"男生偷吃,男生這時會說:

I always find myself in a situation where I had to apologize and explain my actions, and not given the benefit of the doubt.
(男生的意思是說,我覺得我一直都要向妳道歉&解釋,難道你都不能先假設我是清白的嗎?)

怎麼很有專業法律用詞的感覺。好像presumption of innocence啊。

可惜通常都不是給benefit of doubt，通常都是guilty until proven innocent 哈哈
